If you don't want to hear me moaning
and growning about Jury Duty, stop reading now
I have to say, even though we love in
a free country and I should be grateful for the fact that trial by jury
exists here, having to do Jury Duty downright sucks. I had never had to
do it, until today. And lucky me that I live in a county (which shall remain
nameless) where jury service lasts one week or the length of the trial.
What does that mean? Even though I didn't get picked for a jury today,
I still have to go back tomorrow, and even if I don't get picked tomorrow
I might have to go back Wednesday and so on and so forth until the end
of the week or until the trial is over if I get picked for one. Why does
this suck so much? They don't tell you until 4:30pm the night before if
you have to come back the next day. Sitting around in a room all day is
boring. I don't even get my $10/day because my company takes all that money
(and my mileage money) because they only pay me the difference between
what the court gives me and my salary. There is NOTHING redeeming about
the town I have to serve said jury duty in. Not even a coffee shop or a
decent restaurant. And, as of right now, I am part of a jury pool for what
I believe might be a felony trial. In short, it SUCKS, I'm bitter, my work
is piling up on my desk as we speak, and I'm missing the ONE cool meeting
my company actually has on Wednesday. Rant complete. Mood: irritated.
