1. What did you do in 2008 that you've never done before?
Um, duh, gotten pregnant.

2.Did you keep your New Year's resolutions and will you make more for next year?
I don't even remember what my resolutions were. I can barely remember what I had for breakfast a few hours ago (Thank you, pregnancy brain). Yes, probably, but the question is, will I remember them?

3. Did anyone close to you give birth.
Not yet, but stay tuned. I have four close friends that are pregnant, plus me.

4.Did anyone close to you die?
Thankfully, no. Very thankfully.

5. What would you like to have in 2009 that you lacked in 2008?

The birth of a wonderful, healthy baby

6. What countries did you visit?
I didn't go out of the country in '08.

7. What date from 2008 will remain etched in your memory and why?

I can't pick one date. Too many milestones this year. Early July, when we found out we were pregnant. Then later, when we found out the baby looks healthy. Then still later, when we (hopefully) found the benign and harmless source of the bleeding.

8. What was your biggest achievement of the year?
I'm beginning to sound like a broken record-getting pregnant. But, if you know our history, you know this was huge!

9. What was your biggest failure?
Actually, for once, I don't see any big failures in the last year. But, I guess if I have to pick something, I will say I still worry too much.

10. Did you suffer illness or injury?
Does puking my guts out for three straight months count? But, it's all for a good cause. :)

11. What was the best thing you bought?
All things baby-There is so much hope and so many dreams wrapped up in that crib, those tiny clothes...

12. Whose behaviour merited celebration?
My husband's. He is ever loyal, ever loving, and I will never be able to thank him enough.

I have had some choice moments with various nurses at my OB's office.

Hospital/Doctor co-pays. Seriously.

Being pregnant and hopefully having a healthy baby in 2009

16. What song will always remind you of 2008?

"Arms Wide Open" Creed

17. Compared to this time last year are you:
happier or sadder: happier

Um, none!!!! I'm married people!!!!

24. What was your favorite t.v. program?
I have to say, I watched a lot of t.v. and none of it really stood out this year. Mostly, I was killing time while stuck on the couch with my feet up. But, I'm always a fan of the medical drama (House, Grey's etc).

25. Do you hate anyone now that you didn't hate at this time last year?
I don't make a habit of hating people. In other words, no.

My grandmother (well, I suppose technically step-grandmother, but I think of her as my grandmother). She should be here to see me set and reach my goals. But she is always here with me in spirit.

38. Who was the best new person you met?
I met a lot of people in '08. A lot of patients that tugged at my heart strings.

39. Tell us a valuable lesson you learned in 2008.
Some dreams really do come true, even if they are a little modified from their original versions
And, you have to have faith. It's the only thing that gets you through sometimes.

40. Quote a song lyric that sums up your year:
Well I just heard the news today
It seems my life is going to change
I closed my eyes, begin to pray
Then tears of joy stream down my face
With arms wide open
Under the sunlight
Welcome to this place
I'll show you everything
With arms wide open
With arms wide open

And just for some added fun-Cortny, Paisana, and Al over at Blood-N-Thunder, I TAG YOU!!!

Below are my questions from
Janet....

What piece of advice would you give to anyone wishing to start running for fun?

That it's not as hard as it looks, or feels at first. When I first started running I couldn't even finish a mile. I've since gone so far as to run a half marathon (the full thing is in the works). What they say about there being humps you have to get over is very true, but if you keep at it anyone can do it.  You don't have to be thin or athletic or all those other things everyone always thinks they have to be to run, you just have to have the will to keep trying even when it feels like you're not getting anywhere.

Have you found your Polish heritage to be helpful in your adulthood? In what ways?

Yes, I've found that it makes me a pretty interesting person to get to know. I never knew how different my childhood really was because of it until I really started talking to other people about theirs. I also think that it has made me pretty sensitive to other people's cultures and habits...accepting of them. Having been called weird, among other things, my entire childhood and adolescence, because of the customs that come along with my heritage, I have grown to appreciate it as a unique part of who I am. And, it really makes me curious about other people's cultures. I think that's a good thing.

As a recent bride what seemingly insignificant snafu surrounding your plans almost made you apoplectic in the days/weeks leading up the wedding?

You know, it all went really pretty smoothly for me. In fact, I didn't really even feel that stressed, until, that is, the afternoon on the day before our wedding when we were getting ready to leave our apartment for St. Charles and I suddenly couldn't find the cat. I had a total melt down because I thought he had run away or was lost. I think it was in that moment that I realized just how stressful all the planning was. So, while I can't remamber any particulary snafu's driving me crazy, the planning was obviously stressful.

What is the most efficient method of keeping your home free from the stink of cat poo?

Litter made out of cedar. Seriously. That's the secret. I bought the all natural cedar litter for the first time the other week and our house has never been so cat poo odor free.

What childhood toy best defines who you are today?

I had this stuffed rabbit (not real of course)...In fact, I still have it today. That rabbit and I had many adventures together. I lost it many times. Once, a storekeeper put it in their window and that's how I got it back. It was with me when I ate all the seeds of a jalapeno pepper, and when I broke my finger when it got run over my a shopping cart at the grocery store. I would say that that rabbit had a lot of endurance. Despite all the wear and tear and the abuse of a little kid dragging it around everywhere, it's still happy and in tact. I'd say that sort of defines me too...I always bounce back, no matter the circumstances, and I always go on. And sometimes I get lost, but then I always find my wy home.

A picture named M2

Like the ancient dynasties of China, you are pretty well organized. You know where you came from and where you're going. Perfection may be impossible, but you'll see.
